1. Who we are

Caliber ("we", "us") operates the Caliber web platform at caliber.app. We can be reached at privacy@caliber.app.

2. What data we collect

  • Identity data: name, date of birth (year only retained), work email address.
  • Verification data: employer email domain used for OTP verification.
  • Special-category data (Art. 9 GDPR): relationship intent and gender preference — collected only with your explicit consent.
  • Profile data: photos, bio, job title, education.
  • Usage data: likes, matches, messages, last active timestamp.
  • Device data: IP address, browser type, session identifiers.

3. Why we collect it

  • To verify you work at an approved employer (email OTP).
  • To match you with compatible verified members.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the platform.
  • To comply with legal obligations (e.g., CSAM detection via PhotoDNA).

4. Legal bases (GDPR)

  • Contract: operating your account.
  • Explicit consent (Art. 9): special-category data.
  • Legitimate interests: fraud prevention, platform security.
  • Legal obligation: CSAM reporting requirements.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share data only with:
  • Firebase / Google Cloud — infrastructure and hosting.
  • Resend — transactional email (OTP codes only).
  • Microsoft PhotoDNA — photo hash-matching for CSAM detection.
  • Law enforcement — when legally required.
Your data is never shared with your employer.

6. Data retention

Active accounts: data retained for the duration of membership. Deleted accounts: all personal data purged within 30 days, except deletion log records (uid + timestamp only) retained 7 years for legal compliance.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data. You may withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any right or delete your account, go to Settings → Delete Account or email privacy@caliber.app. Residents of California (CCPA) and the EU/EEA (GDPR) may have additional rights.

8. Cookies

We use only strictly necessary session cookies. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies are used.

9. Changes to this policy

We will notify you by email before making material changes to this policy. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
